Twins Executive Positions Available
The Winnipeg Twins AA hockey program is owned jointly between South Winnipeg Hockey Association and Fort Garry North Hockey Association. The Twins program is ran independently with its own set of board member, rules and regulations. Without strong support from volunteers the program would not be able to maintain its high level of success. The board is seeking new members who wish to give back to the hockey programs in their respective areas. The board would require you to meet a maximum of 1 night a month and perform various duties throughout the hockey season. Below is a list of positions available if you’d like to join the Twins team. Some positions would have a 1 year period where the current board member would transition the new member into that role.
If you wish to volunteer in any of the above positions please contact:
Brad Boak – VP Twins SWHA - email@example.com
Shawn McLeod – VP Twins FGNHA - firstname.lastname@example.org
Midget Twins Volunteering Update
Once again the Midget Twins spent the early months of the 2016-17 season gathering and collecting an abundance of warm winter gear for Winnipeg’s own Koats for Kids. With the help of families, friends and colleagues, the midget boys worked hard to collect countless scarves, toques, mitts, boots, ski pants and jackets for Manitoba’s less fortunate. Upon the clothing drive’s completion, the collected clothes were brought to a local Winnipeg fire station, much to the delight of the firefighters on duty.
On top of Koats for Kids, the midget boys also spent one Saturday morning in January volunteering at Winnipeg Harvest. As teamwork so often revolves around a full knowledge and understanding of one another, the gentlemen were able to see and learn one another in a completely different light.
What better way to figure out your linemates than by sorting thousands of loaves of bread by their best before dates?!
Winnipeg Harvest provided a brand new experience to many of the midget players who had never before been to the warehouse, or knew exactly what the food distribution centre was all about. The boys worked diligently and even managed to go above and beyond the assigned tasks – while having all sorts of fun in the process.
Minor Peewee Twins Win In Fargo
The Twins Minor Peewee team won the ‘A’ side Championship in Fargo going a perfect 4-0.
It was a hard fought final with the boys coming out on top 5-1.
The players, coaches and parents represented the organization very well and everyone is proud of their accomplishment.
Bantams Twins Win Fort Frances A Tournament
The Twins Minor Bantam team won the A Championship of the Fort Frances Bantam A tournament on the Weekend of January 6 to 8, 2017.
The team outscored their opponents 38 to 1 in 5 games.
On behalf of the coaches and manager Bob Freeman I'd like to commend the boys on both their play on the ice and their behavior at the rink, where we ate, and the hotel.
They represented the Twins organization with the utmost class.
Oh yeah, the parents were pretty good as well – Coach Brian
